Author Biographies

Hezha H. Mohammedkhan received her BS degree from the University of Sulaimani, Sulaimaniyah, Iraq, in 2015, and her MS degree in Data Science and Society from Tilburg University, Tilburg, Netherlands in 2020. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence in Tilburg University. She is a researcher at the Zero Hunger Lab at Tilburg University. Her current line of research focuses on using AI and machine learning to detect malnutrition from images, with the ultimate goal of ending hunger around the world as part of the mission of the Zero Hunger Lab to create value from data.

Currently, he is a full professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Cognitive Science and AI department of Tilburg University. Çiçek Güven is an Assistant Professor in the Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence department at Tilburg University. She earned her PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research focuses on network analysis and learning on graph-structured data, with an emphasis on network evolution, community detection, and explainability in graph models. Çiçek is involved in various data science projects that use AI to address social challenges, such as malnutrition, generational poverty, and sustainable growth with a focus on energy transition.
Marleen Balvert is a researcher at Tilburg University specializing in optimization and machine learning. She holds an MSc in Operations Research & Management Science (2011-2012, cum laude) and a BSc in Econometrics & Operations Research (2007-2011, with distinction), both from Tilburg University. Her research includes analyzing large genomics datasets and developing tools for the Zero Hunger Lab to support global efforts toward zero hunger.
