Dr. Raluca Maria Pop has a PhD in Biotechnology since 2011, and a master’s degree in Food quality management since 2010. Since 2012, she has been working as a researcher at the Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Clinical Pharmacology Department at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Her research expertise is focused on the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of different drugs and plant extracts and recently, in vivo plant bioactive compounds' influence on oxidative stress and inflammation in different pathologies.
Dr. Florinela Adriana Cătoi is a full Professor at the Pathophysiology Department form “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania Specialist in Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases. She completed her education in this field within the professional exchange she benefited from in 2003-AMD/IDF Grant—Universita degli Studi di Firenze, Azienda Ospedaliera Careggi—D-H Geriatrico e Diabetologico, Florence, Italy. She has been working in the obesity/metabolic surgery field for more than 15 years, and she obtained the title of Doctor in Medicine in 2009 with a PhD thesis entitled "The effects of surgical therapy in obesity". She published several peer-reviewed articles as well as books/book chapters on the bariatric/metabolic surgery topic, and she defended her habilitation thesis with the thesis “Physiopathological implications in obesity and bariatric surgery” in 2020.
