Dr. Daniel David Gregory graduated from the University of British Columbia and obtained his doctorate at the University of Tasmania in 2015. He joined the Department of Earth Sciences at the St George campus in 2018. He specializes in economic geology and geochemistry, and his research applications extend to deciphering chemistry of ancient oceans and identifying controls on gold mineralization in sediment-hosted ore deposits. He uses micro- to nano-scale techniques to analyse trace element concentration and isotopic variation in minerals to interpret the environmental changes at the time of formation. His style of teaching emphasizes bridging the gap between academic research and industry advancements.
Dr. Indrani Mukherjee obtained her B.Sc. degree and M.Sc. degrees in Geology at the University of Delhi in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In 2017, she obtained her doctorate from the University of Tasmania. After graduation, she continued as a postdoctoral researcher in Tasmania. Her research questions key concepts, and explores links between early Earth evolution, the origin of complex life and formation of precious mineral deposits. The approach involves a nuanced understanding of ancient marine environments, via novel and cutting-edge geochemical techniques.
