Dr. Svetlana Smirnikhina graduated from the scientific and
scientific–pedagogical faculty of the Moscow Medical Academy, named after I.M.
Sechenov (now the First Moscow State Medical University, named after I.M.
Sechenov), in 2006 with a medical degree. Svetlana defended her thesis, “Evaluation
of transfection of the VEGF121 gene into human multipotent stromal cells by
non-viral methods”, in the specialty of genetics in 2011, supervised by
an academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, N.P. Bochkov. From 2007
to 2018, she worked in the laboratory of mutagenesis of the Research Centre
for Medical Genetics; since 2019, she has headed the laboratory of genome
editing. Smirnikhina S.A. was awarded a diploma by the Federal Agency for Scientific
Organizations in 2017 for perfect work and high achievements in her professional
activities.
