Author Biographies

Dr. James A. DiLellio is a professor of Decision Sciences at the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Northwestern University, an MBA from Pepperdine, and a BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Akron. Dr. DiLellio teaches Graziadio undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses on business statistics, python for business analytics, quantitative analysis, the valuation of real options, and financial modeling. His research interests are nonlinear optimization, simulation, and machine learning techniques to model various business problems. Dr. DiLellio has published papers in Energy Economics, Decision Sciences, Journal of Economics and Finance, Financial Services Review, Financial Planning Review, and the Journal of Investing. In 2024, he was a UK Fulbright Scholar researching economic and financial models of renewable energy systems. Dr. DiLellio previously served as a department manager for Raytheon, and was responsible for over 70 system engineers serving the engineering development needs of a diverse government and commercial customer base. He has also served as a senior manager at the Boeing Company and previously held key engineering appointments at Raytheon Systems Company and the Aerospace Corporation. Most recently, Dr. DiLellio provided consulting expertise to large corporate clients, including Direxion Investments, Pacific Gas and Electric, Pacific Life, and smaller businesses in the insurance and FinTech space.

Dr David Vandercruyssen Is a part-time research student at Lancaster University and a consultant in the power generation industry.  He started his career at Travers Morgan consulting engineers and moved to the electricity generation industry in 1988 when he joined the central electricity generating board.  He remained with the successor business of RWE Generation UK until 2014 when he left to set up his own business.  He has part-time degrees from The City, The Open and Leeds Universities.  He has authored 17 technical papers to date.  David is a chartered engineer and a fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers.
