Dr. Charlotte Y. Alverson is a research professor in the Secondary Special Education and Transition
Research Unit at the College of Education at the University of Oregon. She is a
technical assistance specialist and evaluator for the National Technical Assistance Center on
Transition: the Collaborative (NTACT:C). She obtained her B.S. in Special Education and
M.Ed. in Gifted and Talented Education from Murray State University, her Ed.S.
in Special Education Administration from Idaho State University, and her Ph.D.
in Special Education from the University of Oregon. Prior to completing her
Ph.D., she taught students with moderate and severe disabilities for thirteen
years. Dr. Alverson’s research interests include secondary transition and post-school
outcomes, transition programming for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and
intellectual disability/developmental disabilities, and data use to improve
in-school secondary special education programming. She was co-PI on a
National Science Foundation grant focused on STEM education and career
opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
