Author Biographies

Sindisiwe Kalumba is a property researcher at the University of Cape Town, where she serves as both a research assistant in the Urban Real Estate Research Unit and a teaching assistant in Construction Economics & Management department. A graduate of UCT's Property Studies program (BSc and BSc Hons), her academic performance earned her Dean's Merit List recognition and Golden Key International Honour Society membership. Kalumba and her research partner's research on net-zero building adoption placed second in the 2023 Greenovate Awards, while her group project won the Old Mutual Property Prize that same year. Her current research focuses on sustainable real estate development within the South African real estate context.
Hannah Volker is a professional serving as a Site Engineer at WHBO Construction (Pty) Ltd, where she specialises in building construction and project management. A graduate of the University of Cape Town's Property Studies program (BSc and BSc Hons), her academic performance earned Dean's Merit List recognition and Golden Key International Honour Society membership. She won the 2023 Old Mutual Property Prize for best group project in Advanced Property Development and earned second place in that year's Greenovate Awards for her net-zero buildings research.
Saul Nurick is a senior lecturer in Property Studies (Real Estate). He is a member of the Urban Real Estate Research Unit (URERU), which is based in the Department of Construction Economics and Management at the University of Cape Town. He holds a BCom, BSc(Hons) (Property Studies), MPhil (Cape Town), and PhD (Witwatersrand). He is a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
