Prof. Dr. Klaus Bengler has been Head of the Institute of Ergonomics since 2009 at the Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany. He graduated in psychology at the University of Regensburg in 1991 and received his PhD in 1995 in cooperation with BMW on the design of driver navigation information at the Institute of Psychology. He then headed the "Human–Machine Interaction" team in BMW’s Research & Development Department where he also managed the Usability Lab. Prof. Dr. Klaus Bengler conducts research in the field of "micro ergonomics". The primary focus of his work centres on human–machine interactions, particularly in the areas of driver assistance, software ergonomics, and cooperation between humans and robots.
