Dr. Alexandra Protopopova is an Assistant Professor in Animal Welfare, Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia. He completed his BS studies in Neuroscience at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, BS studies in Pre-Veterinary and Animal Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, MS studies in Behavior Analysis at the University of Florida, and PhD studies in Behavior Analysis at the University of Florida. His research interests include dog welfare, animal shelter, animal welfare, animal behavior, animal learning, improving animal shelter practices, enhancing companion animal welfare through the development of behavioral interventions in shelters as well as pet homes, and assessing and improving the well-being of dogs working in assistance roles.
