Academic Qualifications: Graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), a school integrated in the Instituto Politécnico do Porto. In July 2022, she completed an internship at the MICROCHEM Laboratory, Matosinhos, as part of her degree in Chemical Engineering, presenting the work entitled "Determination of copper and magnesium in wastewater and drinking water by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry”. In 2024, she completed her Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering - Quality Branch, at the Higher Institute of Engineering of Porto with the subject "Chemical and biological characterization of the macroalgae Undaria pinnatifida for disease prevention". Scientific Activities: Training and testing in atomic absorption spectrophotometry for the determination of metals in wastewater and drinking water, at the MICROCHEM Laboratory, Matosinhos. Training and testing of chemical and biological characterization with macroalgae Undaria pinnatifida, at the GRAQ Laboratory of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP). He has supervised/co-advised around 15 PhD theses and 40 MSc theses on the biology/physiology of calcification and biomineralization of bivalve shell and in the health sciences field.
Academic Qualifications:  Christian Alves graduated in Telecommunications Engineering with Specialization in Electronic Systems from the University of Valladolid, Spain; and has a solid background in Communications and an MBA from The Open University. He completed a specialization course in traditional Chinese medicine at the Heidelberg School from Heidelberg-Germany Professional Experience. Has been Drasanvi’s Country Manager in Portugal since November 2016. In this role, he leads the implementation of the company’s strategy in the Portuguese market, adapting local operations to promote the brand’s growth in the country. Actually, he also works at Drasanvi Company is a specialist technician in food supplements, ecological cosmetics and organic products, including marine collagens, CBD supplements, weight loss products and aromatherapy. He has also been involved in other initiatives, such as the chairman of the advisory board of the Association International Association of Integrative Medicine (ASIMI) is a non-profit organization focused on integrative medicine and of Institute International of Alternative Medicine -IIMA company.
Academic Qualifications: As a University of Porto alumna, Cristina Soares's academic journey spans from a BSc in Chemistry (2001) to an MSc in Analytical Environmental Chemistry (2007) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences focusing on Nutrition and Food Chemistry (2015). After completing her BSc, she sought to broaden her experience internationally rather than immediately pursuing a traditional academic career. She received a training grant at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, where she participated in an intensive analytical chemistry program from 2002 to 2004, specifically within the Quality Control Section, sparked her research passion. In the framework of her MSc, she joined the University of Islas Baleares, Spain, as a visiting researcher, shaping her analytical chemistry skills that she later applied to her MSc research thesis on food contaminants. Subsequently, she was granted funding to undertake her doctoral studies, where she studied the impact of coffee processing on acrylamide formation. Teaching Experience: Following her return, she accepted an Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Methods of Analysis, and Environmental Biochemistry position lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University from 2006 to 2008. Invited Assistant Professor in Food Technology of the Master's Degree for Chemical Engineering. Supervisor of undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. theses at ISEP and Medicinal Biotechnology - Higher School of Health at IPP, Porto.
Academic Qualifications: Graduated in Plant Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon (FCUL, 2004) and obtained a PhD degree in Biotechnology from the School of Engineering, the Technical University of Lisbon (2010) (formerly IST-UTL, currently University of Lisbon). From February 2010 to December 2014, she was a post-doc researcher at the Associated Laboratory REQUIMTE/Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (FFUP) and at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH). Teaching Experience: Invited Assistant Professor in the Biology Laboratory in the Bioresources Degree. Supervisor of undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. theses for the Chemical Engineering and Bioresources courses at ISEP and Medicinal Biotechnology course - Higher School of Health at IPP, Porto.
Academic Qualifications: Graduated in physical education and sports with a master's degree in psychology in the area of ​​psychosocial rehabilitation and mental health. Specializing in traditional Chinese medicine with a professional license from ACSS. Is completing the doctoral (Ph.D.) defense plan in the area of ​​Biomedical Sciences, in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS-UP) with the thesis subject in Vegetative biofeedback Techniques for Mental Health. Teaching Experience: has relevant academic career in Integrative Medicine and Complementary Therapies as teacher in the Health Level - Atlántico Business School in Vila Nova de Gaia. Invited teacher at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) Scientific Activities: is an external researcher at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto (ICBAS). His research focuses on the effects of complementary therapies for human health in various fields. In addition, he is a researcher at the Center of BioSciences in Integrative Health (CBSin).
Academic Qualifications: Degree in Sciences (Biological section) from the Universidad del Pais Vasco (Spain) in 1988. PhD in Biological Sciences (Human Genetics branch) from the Universidad del Pais Vasco (Spain) in 1992. Obtained the equivalent to a doctoral degree in Biology from the University of Porto in 1994. Master's in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS-University of Porto), in 2014. From 1992 to 1994, she obtained a post-doctoral fellowship supervised by Prof. Manuel Sobrinho-Simões from the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Govierno Vasco (Spain). From 1994 to 1997, she received a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology-PRAXIS XXI Program. The post-doctoral project was supervised by Prof. Sergio Castedo Teaching Experience: Since 1998until present, she has taught curricular units in the areas of Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Immunology at CESPU establishments. Scientific Activities: She is an integrated member of 1H-TOXRUN research unit. Since 1990, she has participated in research projects in the area of Molecular Biology/Human Genetics and Human Health. She supervised a master's thesis and two PhD theses. She is a co-author of 80 publications: 4 book chapters and 76 papers published in peer-reviewed, indexed journals. She was co-author of numerous posters and oral communications at national and international scientific congresses.
