Dr. John J. Gargus, MD, PhD: Professional BiographyDr. John J. Gargus is the Founding Scientist of NeuroQure and a world-renowned geneticist specializing in neurological disorders. He previously directed UC Irvine's Center for Autism Research and Translation (CART), leading 60 faculty members in neurodevelopmental disorder drug discovery. An ABMG-certified medical geneticist with MD-PhD, residency and fellowship credentials from Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Gargus has served as principal investigator for multiple first-in-human clinical trials for genetic disease therapeutics and holds three patents for genetic disease diagnostics. His distinguished career includes professorships at UC Irvine in Human Genetics, Pediatrics, and Physiology & Biophysics since 1992, following appointments at Yale and Emory. His pioneering research on channelopathy pathogenesis in neuropsychiatric diseases secured $28 million in philanthropic support for CART. Dr. Gargus has received funding from NIH, Autism Speaks, and multiple foundations, serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Channelopathy Foundation, and has chaired numerous national review panels while being recognized with awards from the American Heart Association and National Headache Foundation.
