Dr. Melissa D. Boston earned her B.S. in mathematics from Grove City College in 1992. She then received her M.A. in Mathematics and Ed.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997 and 2006, respectively. Dr. Melissa D. Boston is currently a professor of mathematics education at Duquesne University, where she teaches mathematics methods courses for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers. She also served as an associate dean of Teacher Education at Duquesne University from 2016 to 2018 and from 2020 to 2023. Dr. Boston has contributed to several publications, including articles, book chapters, edited volumes, and conference proceedings. Her research focuses on examining mathematics teaching and learning through classroom observations and collections of students’ work, using the Instructional Quality Assessment (IQA) in Mathematics Toolkit, which she continues to develop. Dr. Boston also served on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Board of Directors from 2020 to 2023.
