Fusun Can is a professor of medical microbiology at Koç University School of Medicine. She graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 1989 and completed her specialization in 1996 at Ankara University Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology. She worked as a research assistant in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Florida School of Medicine, USA. She specializes in molecular epidemiology of emerging bacterial and viral pathogens, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and biofilm-related infections. She is the Deputy Director of Koç University Infectious Diseases Research Center (KUISCID) and is responsible for the Biosafety Level III – Biosafety Level II Units and the Microbiology Research Laboratory. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (IDCM).
