Author Biographies

Dr. Melih Can Gül was born in 1988 in Van, Turkey. He completed his medical education at Akdeniz University in 2014 and worked as a general practitioner in Kastamonu before completing his general surgery residency at Süleyman Demirel University in 2020. He served as a general surgeon at Afyonkarahisar and Emirdağ State Hospitals, where he pioneered laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs and intragastric balloon procedures. In 2021, he ranked second nationally in the Turkish Surgical Society’s 32nd Proficiency Exam and earned certification in breast surgery through a six-month training by the Senatürk Association. In 2022, he began a subspecialty fellowship in gastrointestinal surgery at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, which he completed in June 2024. Dr. Gül has authored numerous national and international publications in the fields of general and gastrointestinal surgery. He currently practices at Afyonkarahisar State Hospital. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Turkish Surgical Society, the Turkish Society of Emergency Surgery and Trauma, the Turkish Society of Gastroenterological Surgery, and the Turkish Hepato–Pancreato–Biliary Surgery Society. He is married and has two children.
