Dr. Chen graduated with a 4-year MEng degree (joint Bachelor’s and Master’s) from Imperial College London in 2009, then obtained his PhD degree from the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton in 2014. He worked in an industrial research lab as a postdoctoral research fellow for the joint lab between SPI Lasers Ltd. and the University of Southampton from 2013 to 2015. He joined the University of South Australia as a research fellow in 2015. He joined Shenzhen University as a Professor in 2021. He became the Deputy Director at the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Ultrafast Laser Micro/Nano Manufacturing in 2022. In recent years, he has led research on super-long-distance distributed fiber-optic vibration sensing and communication-sensing deep integration.
