Summary

This reprint focuses on the stomatognathic system, an heterogenous anatomic apparatus consisting of different organs which may be affected by pathologies linked to general health conditions. From reciprocal influences between periodontitis and diabetes to multiorgan pathologies such as lichen planus and oral mucosae/salivary gland cancer, novel therapeutic approaches and the best clinical practices have been studied by authors from around the world, with a special focus on relations with systemic conditions. As one of the events mainly impacting healthcare worldwide in recent years, the effects of COVID-19 on oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) will also be discussed.
