Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Access to adequate water and sanitation services is basic human right and vital to human health. However, much of the global population is living without adequate access to water and wastewater infrastructure. Meanwhile, the existing water and wastewater systems are facing a number of challenges such as climate change, aging infrastructure, financial shortfall, and difficulty in meeting increasingly stringent water quality goals. Clean water and sanitation is one of key goals delineated in the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals Report. To enable the provision of more sustainable water and sanitation services to the global population, this Special Issue requests studies on theory development, method advancement and applications, and associated reviews/case studies in the areas of life cycle and risk assessment for water and wastewater infrastructure. The explementary topics include but are not limited to the following:
- System theories for assessing the sustainability and resilience of and equity in water and wastewater infrastructure;
- Life cycle assessment methods and case studies of water and wastewater infrastructure;
- Health risk assessment methods and case studies of water and wastewater infrastructure;
- Climate impacts, vulnerability, adaptability and resilience of water and wastewater infrastructure.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Environments is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
