Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The use of metallic dental materials in dentistry has continued since primordial times, with even the most advanced contemporary dental treatments using them due to their excellent mechanical and biological properties. In addition, the ductility and wide range of different properties with the available biomedical alloys make metallic dental materials one of the most versatile groups of synthetic structures that can be applied in oral rehabilitation. It is possible to observe the presence of metallic dental materials in endodontics, operative dentistry, preventive dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, implantology, and many other dental specialties. However, although metallic dental materials are extremely important to dentistry, allowing us to promote adequate oral health in patients, they are not failure-free. Nevertheless, their mechanical and biological properties in general are related to their durability, long-term behavior, and tissue response and should be evaluated with well-developed and relevant scientific reports.
Therefore, this Special Issue aims to cover the most recent topics regarding the development of metallic dental materials, as well as their processing for oral applications, mechanical responses, biological issues, and any property that can positively or negatively modify the health of patients.
