Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanoparticles (NPs) possess immense potential to revolutionize drug delivery by improving the specificity, efficacy, and safety of treatments, with them becoming a significant focal point in the field of drug delivery due to their unique properties. Various NPs have been developed to address different challenges in drug delivery, including poor drug solubility, poor bioavailability, inherent drug instability, severe adverse effects, and a lack of targeted delivery.

The types of nanoparticles used for this purpose are different, such as polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, niosomes, and solid lipid nanoparticles. The preparation methods of nanoparticles play a crucial role in determining their size, shape, surface properties, and functionality, which affects their effectiveness in drug delivery.

Traditional NP synthesis bulk methods suffer from limitations such as less control over particle size and polydispersity (PDI), poor batch-to-batch reproducibility, and difficulties in scaling up production. The microfluidic method for the preparation of nanoparticles represents a significant advancement in the field of nanotechnology, offering precise control over the synthesis process and enabling the production of high-quality nanoparticles for various applications, particularly in drug delivery.

The following Special Issue aims to shed light on the latest advances in the preparation of nanoparticles with particular attention paid to microfluidics, to provide a collection of valuable information in not only the pharmaceutical field but other fields as well. We will explore how these innovative approaches can improve the stability and reproducibility of nanotechnology formulations.
