Scientific Spirit Prize in China Awarded
The annual Scientific Spirit Prize in China was set up in January 2013 by New Threads, a nonprofit organization chaired by Dr. Fang Shimin. Dr. Fang is the recipient of the Nature Magazine sponsored John Maddox prize in 2012. The Scientific Spirit Prize in China is sponsored by MDPI with 10'000 CHF (Swiss Francs) per year.
This year's prize, the second in a row (the first issued to Professer He), is awarded to Professor Rao, from Peking University. MDPI is proud to support this prize and congratulates Professor Rao on his achievement and contributions.
At the award ceremony on 12 January 2014, the President of MDPI, Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, spoke about the connection between open access publishing and the Scientific Spirit Prize.
