Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

It is a study that describes the evolution of cases in the ICU and the possibility of finding death due to immobility.
The description of the methodology aspect is correct, however, the fact of choosing the most favorable cases makes the results somewhat expected.
A choice of those most unfavorable and applying the same technique would have highlighted the work more and would have offered more interesting data.

The subject discussed is of high importance within the public health issue. It is interesting to define the concepts to follow a common pattern and that can be translated to the rest of the ICU units.

Specialized or support personnel have been thought-about to carry out these movements with patients. How is this action going to be implemented?

It is not clear how they determine that low mobility is the cause of a high probability of death and not from other causes of the disease.
Is it possible that the performance with these diseases of similar results with other types of patients such as those who have been excluded from the study?

Author Response

answer when reviewing number 1: first i would like to thank you for the comments and time to do the analyses. We are developing work, taking as a parameter the suggestion to choose the least favorable cases, for a future publication. the idea of following standards of concepts is very welcome, but for the sake of logistical service it was not possible to be carried out. about the performance of the movements by our team, the intention is to carry out training so that it can happen with the same pattern at all times.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is about the early mobilization of individuals hospitalized in an intensive care unit (ICU) and accurately explains its benefits in terms of survival, hospital stay and readmission in ICU. It is written appropriately and is correctly designed, although the population examined is not variously distributed: 1)medical/post-surgical patients in favour of post-surgical, 2) in the post-surgical the pelvic surgery patients represents the majority. This is potentially a bias and must be mentioned as a limit of the study. From the practical point of view, it remarks the importance of early mobilization, whenever possible, in those individuals bedridden for some reason.

A formal revision of the language should be done with more accuracy: some words in English do not exist, for example, iity on page 4 line 153, in table 2 in the first column the word idade should be replaced by the word age. Moreover, there are some incomplete sentences, for example on page 2 line 60 “The independence to move and transfer postures and (?)...”; at line 336 the last sentence seems to be cut. There are some repetitions like in line 272.

Author Response

answer when reviewing number 2: first i would like to thank you for the comments and time to do the analyses. about the questioning about the sample, and the large number of pelvic surgery patients, it was due to the profile of the service, but we accept the suggestion and put it as a limitation of our study in red. about the review in english, we proceeded throughout the article, and we believe that you are satisfied.
