Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Ultra-High 2 Pressure: why is ultra…all AWJ machines Works with 6000 bars, like FLOW machines. Consider to eliminate ULTRA.

CFD seems Ok, no any problem from this side.

State of the art, I see you did not mention a variation of AWJ where simulations are the most important aspect tom achieve good results, instead of cutting for “milling” as it was shown by Alberdi in: Effect of process parameter on the kerf geometry in abrasive water jet milling, The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology 51, 467-480 and IN ASME in https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4004320 being the last one a work including Experimental Study of the Slot Overlapping and Tool Path Variation Effect in Abrasive Waterjet Milling.

Powder in AWJ is not uniform, see above references, how did you study the effect of lack of uniformity of powder particles in CFD. Perhaps making a good discussion with above works as base you can avoid experimental testing, a experimental campaign would be very recommended.

Which gas are you referring to in the modelling…air?

AWJ is a mature technology, paper could help some ideas, but it needs a better introduction and discussion.

The submitted manuscript represents a very interesting study, which, based on theoretical modeling, solves very common problems in the division of AWJ materials. The literary research is processed very honestly and to the consequences, as well as the description of the methods used. The analysis of the problem itself is built logically and leads to the expected results. Likewise, the conclusion is based on the presented and discussed simulation results. But I have a few questions and comments:

1. What are the limitations of simulation in relation to real conditions?

2. It would be good if these limitations were discussed in the study.

3. At the same time, it would be good to verify the model empirically and thus to compare the theoretical results with practice.

My comments do not reduce the overall good impression of the study, and after incorporating mainly the 1st and 2nd comments, I recommend publishing the manuscript.
