Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Thank you for reviewing the paper “Improvement of Failure mode and effects analysis using fuzzy and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system”. This paper proposes a new conceptual model is proposed to improve the traditional technique and make FMEA a more auton- 19

omous, data driven and accurate method. The conceptual model of improved FMEA uses ANFIS and FIS models in one automated process that aims to solve the defect handling process from failure detection to quantification of risk level and prioritization of dedicated mitigation action. The topic is relevant and interesting, authors are requested to consider all the following comments to improve this manuscript.

    1. In the introduction section is not clear the reason why this model is better than other models. The purpose of the article should be expressed clearly. Try to set the problem discussed in this paper in more clear, write one section to define the problem. A conceptual diagram can be added in the introduction section.

    2. Very general statements present in wide range of literature, which require more references.

3. Authors are requested to add a section titled “Related Works” in between the Introduction and the Methodology. In this section, should include papers published in last three years.

   4. At the end of the introduction, describe how the article is organized.

      5. Describe the managerial implications of the research, which can be included in the conclusions

6. The author should discuss the conclusions in more detail.

Author Response

  Dear Reviewer,

Thank You for the constructive suggestions, which I have incorporated into the paper. I am providing you with detailed explanations for the proposed remarks:

1. In the introduction section is detailed described the reason why this model is better than other models and the problem is define (line 113-157). A conceptual diagram is added in results, Figure 10.

    2. and 3. The paper follows the structure of the MDPI template, so a section titled 'Related Works' is not included. However, the majority of the listed literature pertains to the relevant state-of-the-art articles on this topic, which are presented in the Introduction chapter published within the last three years.

   4. It is made correction and at the end of the introduction it is added description how the article is organized.

      5. i 6. The managerial implications of the research is included in the conclusions.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors,

Thank you for giving the possibility to review the paper named "Improvement of Failure mode and effects analysis using fuzzy   and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system". I read it twice and I like the methodological approach and the introduction.  I like it. I only suggest to add this paper on FMEA (it is used in different field) 10.3390/asi5030045 .  Please consider it.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank You for the nice comment and kind ratings. I would like to refer only to the suggested article. The author used different tools to enhance the FMEA method, but the decision certainly depends on the type and complexity of the problem being observed and available resources, in our case the fuzzy logic was more suitable.

Reviewer 3 Report

In their latest revision, the authors have made significant improvements to the old version of the manuscript, resulting in a notable enhancement in the overall quality and coherence of the work. The authors have refined the structure of the manuscript, making it more logically organized and easily navigable for readers. Necessary parts were also added.

Reviewer 4 Report

The paper presents the possibility of using FMEA method in the analysis of proeccess. Authors show the possibility of using FMEA  in cooperation to using fuzzy and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system. This method can be helpful because of big problem of estimating S, O and D number in the analysis. Very often it is subjective.

For me, everything is clear. Authors present the material in very easy and understanable way. The manuscript is divided into chapters that, step by step, all main elements of the paper (purpose, literature background, methods, results and conclusion).

I have only two comments to the manuscript and I hope that authors will take in into account:

1. Figures 2& 3. Teir quality is not high. Is it possible to make them in higher quality?

2. Problems of references - I have found 2 problems:

-references 28, 29, 39. I think there is problem with bibliographic description. What is more, References 28 and 39 are not found in the Internet,

- reference 34. It is the standard (ISO 31000:2009) that is not actual. On ISO website you an find the information that thi standard has been revised by ISO 31000:2018. It must be corrected.

Author Response

Figures 2& 3. still left with not high quality, becouse it is ilustration and short time of deadline, I could not manage it!

Problems with references is resolved.
