Different Behaviors of Friction in Open and Closed Forging Test Utilizing Palm Oil-Based Lubricants
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript addresses an interesting and useful topic, the submitted manuscript reports a study how friction behaves differently in open-closed forging tests of different palm oil derivatives. However there are some logical questions that need to be clarified. The follows need to be addressed:
1. Can you provide parameters and processes related to finite element simulation?
2. “PS exhibited a decreasing trend from 11.43% to 38.57% as the die stroke compression increased, and this tendency persisted until the compression was complete.” Is there an error in the description of this sentence in section 3.3 ? “a decreasing trend from 11.43% to 38.57%”
3. Figure 10 presence of edge lines caused by the way the picture is inserted.
4. The conclusion section should describe some future perspectives and practical implications for engineering applications.

This paper carried out a study on the Difference behaviour of friction in open and closed forging test utilizing palm oil based as a lubricant. There are some new contributions made to this subject. The authors should revise the paper according to the following comments:
· Selection of Palm oil as biolubricant in this study need to be justified by comparing the physicochemical properties with other potential biolubricants
· In paragraph 5 of Introduction section, the phrase “earlier studies employed minerals and oils” need to be corrected.
· Authors should highlight the novelty of this research at the end of the Introduction section
· Some recent papers related to the biolubricants blended with nanoparticle additives in in the years 2020-2023 should be reviewed and cited.
· Role of nano-biolubricants in metal forming process need to be highlighted in Introduction section.
· Authors need to include the images of experimental setup and workpieces utilized for testing to clearly convey the process of experimental tests carried out.
· The authors should add a flowchart in order to describe the DEFORM-3D optimization routines followed in this study
· In conclusions, the authors need to include the potential significance of blending nanoparticles in biolubricant as future scope of work to further enhance its performance as metal forming lubricants.
· Avoid long sentences: short sentences are easier to understand than long sentences. In some of the paragraphs from Introduction to conclusions, it is best to write in short sentences
· The manuscript is lengthy, the discussion of results can be trimmed down to make the result explanation more specific.
· Figure 10 need to be represented in a better manner to match the standards of research studies published in this area.
· English is comprehensible but needs correction of grammatical errors and style.
In view of this, the work in the paper requires minor revision prior to publication in this journal.
