Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a strong paper which makes the point that murals and street art in general are more than touristic attraction. The paper is well-researched, well-written, and interesting. It includes a broad bibliography which shows that the author has made a significant amount of research.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and review this paper. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,

A.S.

Reviewer 2 Report

The topic is interesting and well referenced. The structure of the work is clear and the text is fluid. However, it would be important to better reference the concept of post-modernity as well as a reference to Creative Tourism, which often intersects with the definition given in the text of Cultural Tourism. The criticism he makes of tourism is interesting, despite enunciating its benefits. It could also do, as it does in relation to tourism, a more in-depth presentation of Street Art. Talking about pre-historical art and contemporaneity, without mentioning the importance, for example, of Mexican Muralism, is not consistent with the depth with which he deals with issues of Cultural Tourism. Conclusions can also be enlarged, they seem too "light" given the density of the text.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

thank you for the careful reading and the encouraging, constructive comments on this manuscript. The author has taken all your suggestions into consideration and strongly believes these have helped increase the quality of her work.

Following your recommendations,

  • the concept of post-modernity has been more clearly explained and contextualized within Stuart Hall’s theory of cultural identity (249-288). Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion;
  • The author included a broader definition of tourism and enunciated the different categories it encompasses before narrowing it down to cultural tourism (119-121; 137-143);
  • Not only a more in-depth presentation of street art is presented, but a distinction between street art and graffiti is also drawn (435-472). Thank you for pointing this out; this improvement is of utmost importance for this paper;
  • A reference to the Mexican muralism movement was included (438-439). The author would like to thank the suggestion, which is absolutely pertinent to the topic herein explored;
  • The Conclusions were extended and revised (697-777). The author sought to give more details and connect the topics and arguments that were introduced in the article.

Once again, thank you for your observations, and for the time and effort you put into helping the author improve her work.

Kindest regards,

A.S.
