Design, Setup, and Evaluation of a Compensation System for the Light Deflection Effect Occurring When Measuring Wrought-Hot Objects Using Optical Triangulation Methods
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This paper introduces a feasible approach for measuring the geometry of red-hot objects via reducing the light deflection effect when using optical triangulation systems. The present paper is very interesting, it should be accepted for publication after some correction: the introduction section needs to be improved by citing new and related articles of the current journal. The authors are recommended to check the required paper structure in authors guide on the journal site. the manuscript can be accepted after minor revision

Dear collegues,
This is an initial, but well-presented study on the possibility of online measurements of hot parts using optical systems. The topic is interesting because of the economic benefits of a quick and online inspection of wrought-hot parts. However, optical systems, and, in particular fringe projection systems, require several conditions that limit their practical application in hot or difficult environments.
The rates analyzed for air flow would only be valid for a constant profile. Any change in this section of the part would produce changes in results. In this sense, do you have considered different sensors orientations towards the cylinder, or the system has a fixed in the setup?
The effect of color with changes in temperature has a direct effect on the quality of the measurements and accuracy. Has any type of geometric or dimensional measurement been carried out?. I understand that it would be interesting to see the results in the paper.

This research plan has originality. However, there is a large number of English spelling and capital errors. It is dificult for readers to understand the meaning of the present paper. Could you check the manuscript? In addition, in line 39 of page 2, "(BOS)" should be put after the background-oriented Schieren to show the abbreviation in the same manner as others.
