Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript presents interesting results. The text is well structured.

The introduction reflects in sufficient detail the current state of research in this area.

Results are confirmed using good technique. It is also worth noting the above schemes (Figures 8 and 9), which clearly depict the features of sound transmission in resonance conditions and without it for the composites.

The conclusions are consistent with the results.

The authors studied the acoustic properties of 316L stainless steel hollow spheres composites fabricated by pressure casting. The authors prepared the MHS in previous work and studied the acoustic properties experimentally and by modelling in this work. The work could be an interesting topic but there are significant issues. English writing is negatively affecting the paper quality and required to be improved throughout. The introduction does not clearly address the current state of the art, the novelty and the potential applications. The fabrication method is based on the previous work but it is important for the readers to understand it as well so authors should briefly describe it here. I think it can not be published in the current state and it should be rejected but with a recommendation to resubmit it

Thank You for addressing to all notes,

BUT

Please pay attention to the ref [2] and [5], It is should be:

Please also check all the other references I guess it is not according with MDPI style

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors made some improvements but the writing quality requires a lot more of further revision.

The abstract for example starts with this sentence, which should summaries what is the paper about.

In this study, three types of metal hollow sphere (MHS) composites (MHSCs) were 10 prepared by pressure casting under vacuum condition, i.e. the MHSCs with the random distribution 11 of MHSs (MHSC-3.28, MHSC-5.76) fabricated by the MHSs with different diameters (3.28mm, 12 5.76mm), and the MHSC with the layered structure (MHSC-LS) manufactured using MHSs with 13 diameter 3.28mm.

Instead: it could be written as the follows:

In this study, metal hollow sphere composites (MHSCs) were prepared by pressure casting under vacuum condition and their acoustic properties were investigated. The density of the samples was measured by the mass to volume ratio. Write more about the methods used. Then summaries the key results.

In some cases the authors repeated wording for example:

In the second decade of the 21st century, the industry dictated a number of requirements for new materials, in connection with which materials science as a branch of science received new challenges 34 in the field of creating new materials

So materials have been repeated 3 times in the same sentence and science two times.

Authors exaggerate in writing, it should be more specific.  The metal hollow spheres structure is a new type of porous materials: I do not think it is correct I think it is not very new. Similarly in many places

The writing revisions should applies to the rest of the paper. It may looks grammatically correct but either not clear or not interesting to read.
