Urban Vertical Farming as an Example of Nature-Based Solutions Supporting a Healthy Society Living in the Urban Environment
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The paper is interesting and the topic is relevant than ever
I kindly ask to the authors:
- line 94 - after the word "agriculture” and before the word “Building” put a dot? (verify)
- line 164: after the word “areas” the is a comma instead a dot? (verify)
- Is it possible to exemplify the different vertical green systems: panel system, felt pocket and container system with drawings or images?
- perhaps it is better to differentiate the horizontal roof systems from the vertical ones in two different chapters; they are two completely different solutions both in terms of technologies, benefits and costs
- Have the factors shown in tables 1-5 been selected by the authors or also on the basis of the analysis of the case studies?
- Is it possible to quantify some benefits? also referring to the results obtained from the case studies cited
- in addition to the benefits, it would also be significant to include the costs or difficulties encountered in reality for the installation of green solutions e.g.: (building constraints, installation and management costs, etc.)

Dear Reviewer 1
Thank you very much for the review, which has helped us to improve our paper. According to your’s suggestions we’ve changed:
- line 94
- line 164
- Unfortunately we don’t have the possibility to to exemplify the different vertical green systems: panel system, felt pocket and container system with drawings, the images can be taken from external sources but unfortunately we don’t have the agreements for using them
- We’ve differentiated the horizontal roof systems from other vertical green systems in two different chapters
- We’ve added the sentence that the factors shown in tables 1-5 been selected on the basis of the analysis of the case studies.
- The benefits from urban verical farmin were distinguished in the chapter: Addressing societal challenges by vertical greening, The impact of vertical greenery on life in cities and The role of vertical greenery in nature-based solutions in cities
- Summarizing the beneits from urban vertical farming we’ve also mentioned about the difficulties encountered in reality for the installation of green solutions such as building constraints, installation and management costs.

- We’ve changed some errors according to your’s suggestions
- We’ve differentiated the horizontal roof systems from other vertical green systems in two different chapters
- We’ve added the recommended publications to the description of the sate of the arts of the natural-based infrastructure
