Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The methodology section is very brief and should be expanded with more detailed information on the sample design and the collection process. Also on the design of the questionnaire and the scales used for each variable analyzed.

The results section is a bit confusing in your organization.

The formal indications of the journal must be reviewed: paragraph format, citations, etc.

The mention of the limitations of the work is lacking in the conclusions section.

Both the title and the notes contained in the abstract promise an interesting reading.
This is due to two aspects:
1) the importance of the VIC's role in improving financial performance and adjusting business strategies; 2) the method used, i.e. the modeling of structural equations. But - reading this article is not entirely satisfactory.

The background is not clear. It is not clear from it, for example, that for years the relationship between human and social capital as factors of the success of entities has been sought; that it is done both by researchers in the field of economics and management, and that they unanimously emphasize the special sensitivity of factors related to people to disorders outside the economic system, which is the COVID-19 pandemic. The social consequences of the pandemic are basically contained in one sentence. anyway, throughout the study, this theme returns as one-sentence comments. Therefore, I suggest either omitting the thread or extending it (I am inclined to the latter).
I consider both the research material and the method an asset of the article. The method of modeling structural equations based on covariance (CB-SEM) and partial least squares (PLS-SEM), belonging to the more and more popular generation of statistical techniques, was applied. With weaker justification of the need for research, I evaluate the entire text as interesting and I use the school grading scale to give it a "Good" note.
I have some reservations about the language of work - sometimes heavy and not very "shapely". They suggest using help in this regard.
I wish the author / authors good luck in further research.

The paper covers an interesting and important issue of the factors that affect the performance of banks, using the example of financial institution in emerging economy (Indonesia). The overall quality of the paper is high as it is based on sound methodology and the results were interpreted correctly. There are, though, some minor issues that should be improved.

  1. The aim of the study should be stated clearly both in the abstract and introduction.
  2. Authors should carefully explain the contribution of the paper and the reasons why it could be of interest for readers. The study focuses on just one bank in one country so it is an important issue to discuss.
  3. Results of the analysis should be compared to the results of the previous studies.
