Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article investigates widely analyzed problem of whether the effect of public debt on economic growth depends on the size of the debt. There are so many articles devoted to this topic that the analysis of the literature seems superficial. I would advise limiting the analysis to studies focused on developing countries. Attempting to cover all countries limits the ability to provide a comprehensive analysis.

Title: Exploring The Role Of High Government Debt On Economic Growth: Nonlinearity And Threshold Analysis For African Developing Countries

According to what I've read, the study needs minor revisions before it can be accepted. Please see below my suggestions for revising the authors' manuscript:

1.     The authors should use the Economies referencing style in the whole text.

2.     Due to using lots of abbreviations in the text, the author(s) should use a Table for abbreviations

3.     In addition, the introduction should also underline the novelty of this study to literature and practice which is missing.

4.     In the panel unit root outcomes, if the variable seems stationary at level, the authors should not take the first difference of the variables

5.     Table 5-6-7-8-9 should be re-constructed to increase the readability of the manuscript.

6.     Finally the authors should provide more policy implications relevant to what is found in the current paper
