Round 1

Some suggestions for improvements in the text:

Abstract

- Maybe words Now, this and This can be omitted and replaced by other words?

Introduction

- Suggest replacing 'core business' by studies (line 20)

- Maybe using ill-health instead of ill health

- Correct 'A whole-of-university approach (line 29-30)

- Improve the sentence ' Healthy lifestyle... quality of life' (lines 34-35)

- Replace 80% by 80 percent (line 37), if this is the policy of the journal

- change affect-their to affect their (line 44)

- in line 57 please describe how initiatives less than a semester were beneficial for the students.

Methods/measures

- change % to percent (lines 123, 124)

Results

- change to percent

- Table 1: lines for subjective sleep quality and sleep latency & numeric values were in print out in wrong lines

- line 172: ... and twelve sub-themes...

- Table 2: Assuming that is will be designed to fit in one page or less

References:

- line 263: smaller text size than in others

- check correct reference style at least for the following: Ref 24, Ref 36, Ref 37

English language is with a good, native quality.

The main question addressed by this research is to take into account the prevention of alterations in the well-being and mental health of undergraduate students. To to solve this problem, an authentic health education course was implemented for which the students were assessed.

The topic is not that original. Howerver it deserves to be deepened that it this the aim of the paper.

The references seem to be in adequation with the the issue. Nevertheless it is not sure that the authors carefully read some of reference such as ref. 24 dealing with empowerment that is not highlighted in the discussion but is mentionned " for example removing communication devices from the bedroom when going to sleep [24] Line 93"

Therefore, the conclusions obviously are not that consistent with the main question particularly in the qualitative research. I wouls advice the authors to rethink the questionnaire with qualified (such as sociologist) people.

I enjoyed reading this paper. The introduction is good, the purpose of the study is clearly stated. The study design is also well presented, though it has its limitations.

I like the thematic map generated from the qualitative data, but I have the following questions and suggestions for authors:

1)    How are the 12 sub-themes in the thematic map related to the quotes from the reflections in table 2?

2)    The major themes are listed in the table 2 with their definitions, but the sub-themes are missing in the table.  How are the sub-themes different from the definitions of the major themes?  Why did authors leave out the sub-themes in the table 2?  Why didn’t they include the sub-themes in table 2? What is the importance of the sub-themes identified if they are not stated in the table?

3)    Authors should consider revising the table 2 to include the sub-themes. They should try to link or match the quotes from the reflections with the sub-themes as well. They should consider creating a table with 3 columns: themes, sub-themes, and quote from the reflections.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors have clarified the issue and justified the use of the mixted research.

Declaring that the aim of this publication is to emphasise a particular environment ie Australia should aknolowledge. Anyway I still think that empowerment should be considered as a crucial competence to cope the disorders isolation and stress of the students. This should be addressed in the conclusion to open the work of the authors for further research. This minor revision would be worthwhilefor acceptation in the present form
.
