Title: Celebrating and Leveraging Classroom Geographic and Cultural Diversity to Enhance Student Learning

Comments

The experiment is interesting to investigate the impact of diversity on drawing sustainability solutions. But the scientific method needs some improvements to consolidate the outcomes from this research

  1. Important information should be addressed about the course design such as learning environment while conducting activities, assessment methods and tools, and student’s course evaluation
  2. The sample don’t represent cultural diversity
  3. To conclude that the culture diversity enhanced student’s learning, a comparison between the solar course and the new version should be addressed by comparing the achieved objectives in both courses

The pedagogical  approach was well presented and the value of the outcomes were supported by the research findings. Overall, the manuscript is well written. The few comments I have are:

1. It was not clear whether the themes that emerged are new or they have been reported in other contexts. In discussing these the themes, It would be helpful to see engagement with literature to clearly demonstrate the author's contribution to scholarship.

2. Data synthesis: I understand the qualitative research presentation approach of using quotations from primary sources. In some sections, the manuscript sounded more like a listing of each student's quote without a clear attempt to establish the connections. I suggest highlighting any common  or significantly perceptions as related to the diversity of the class.

3. The cultural component that the authors referenced in several places was not clear as to their context and how it came up in the study. I suggest making the component clear especially as it relates to the question about relation with water.
