Screen Time of Preschool-Aged Children and Their Mothers, and Children’s Language Development
Highlights
- Increased screen time for preschool-aged children and their mothers is associated with poorer language development in children.
- Children's screen time alone as well as mothers' screen time are negatively correlated with children's lexical and general language abilities.
- The negative impact on children's language development is cumulative when both children's screen time alone and mothers' screen time are considered together.
- The results suggest the importance of restricting both children's screen time spent alone and mothers' screen time to support children's language development.
