Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The ms from Jiang and Gerhardt reports a sunstantial review on the fabrication and applications of MWNTs thin films. Overall, the review is interesting and well written and provides a nice overview on the synthesis of MWNTs but with a focus on their electrical properties towards application as supercapacitors even though there is a mention on other (sensing) applications of MWNTS. The reference section is adequate.

Overall, this review requires something in between minor/major revision.

Points to consider for revision:

1) I would personally omit the description of MWNTs for sensing and I would focus the review towards supercap applications. This would shorted a bit the review

2) the title should reflect the applications the authors target (in this case I would say "Fabrication and supercaps applications.....";

3) the review contains a lot of text which is good if this is intercalated with more figures/tables/schemes.  Breaking more the text with this pictorial stuff would make the review more appealing; as it stands there are sections with lot of text but not figures;

Author Response

1) I would personally omit the description of MWNTs for sensing and I would focus the review towards supercap applications. This would shorted a bit the review

Response:  The information on sensing has been mostly removed and added a few more figures for supercapacitors.

2) the title should reflect the applications the authors target (in this case I would say "Fabrication and supercaps applications.....";

Response:  The title has been modified

3) the review contains a lot of text which is good if this is intercalated with more figures/tables/schemes.  Breaking more the text with this pictorial stuff would make the review more appealing; as it stands there are sections with lot of text but not figures;

Response:  We added a total of 7 figures and removed 3 to better illustrate the more relevant topics.

Reviewer 2 Report

  1. Authors should be improved the language of the manuscript efficiently for the publication.
  2. Why authors provided the different literature outcome images without clear discussion.
  3. Authors should be provided the high resolution TEM images.
  4. What are the merits in the proposed methodology to form MWCNT?
  5. Authors should be discussed the recent literatures introduction section.

Author Response

  1. Authors should be improved the language of the manuscript efficiently for the publication.  Response: some modification has been made.
  2. Why authors provided the different literature outcome images without clear discussion.  A few figures have been added
  3. Authors should be provided the high resolution TEM images. There is no need for high resolution images as the images provided already contain the information relevant to the work discussed.
  4. What are the merits in the proposed methodology to form MWCNT? As already mentioned throughout the paper, our method requires much less carbon nanotubes and has reasonable properties even if not yet optimized.
  5. Authors should be discussed the recent literatures introduction section. Modifications have been made to address this comment.
