Reviewer 3 Report

This manuscript reports effects of hydrolates and essential oils of Origanum vulgarre subsp. Viridulum on postharvest loss in papaya fruits. The authors showed that the hydrolates reduces postharvest losses of papaya fruits. This finding is novel. However, there are many issues in this manuscript as described below.

1. Introduction composes of only one paragraph. This paragraph should be divided into several paragraphs.

2. I think that English in the text is not good. In addition, there are several grammatical mistakes in the text. English should be checked by a scientist whose native language is English.

3. In Table 2, explanation of “L.C.”, “N.C”, “B.C.”, “M.C.” and “E.C.” should be added in the legend.

4. In Fig. 2, the label for the vertical axis should be added.

Specific comments:

Line 26~27. This sentence should be revised.

Line 164. There is a mistake in this sentence.

Line 188. This sentence is incomplete.

Line 215. There is a mistake in this sentence.

Line 320~321. Please check if this sentence is correct.

Line 381~383. Please check if this sentence is correct.

Overall, this manuscript has novel finding. In my conclusion, this manuscript is suitable for publication in horticulturae if the above issues are adequately addressed. The manuscript should be checked for errors before resubmitting.
