Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors reviewed recent studies on additive manufacturing of biomedical implants and their functionalities using polymeric, ceramic, and metallic biomaterials incorporated with biomimetic principles. The review paper is of interest to the readers of Biomimetics.

The manuscript is well organized, however minor English editing is recommended (informal expressions, few typos should be checked).

Figure 4 should be provided in a higher image resolution.

The references are appropriate, up-to-date and comprehensive. The summary of the review is relevant and thoroughly discussed. Overall, the manuscript is worth being published on Biomimetics after some minor changes.
