Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

Review on the paper entitled "Prescribed performance control-based semi-active vibration controller for seat suspension equipped with an electromagnetic damper" by Zhao et al.

1. Check Eq. (5) again. Equation (5) looks incorrect. By using a universal testing machine, we can estimate the damping coefficient. Refer to papers regarding the MR damper.

2. The EMD proposed in this study uses the mechanism that transforms the vertical motion into the rotational motion of the motor shaft. In order for the EMD to be effective, the transition should be smooth. Figure 12 is too small to understand the control flow and experiment.

3. Check Eq. (9) again. Equation (9) implies a negative damping. Draw a free-body diagram.

4. Authors used the PPC to determine a proper damping coefficient, which was proved in [32,35,38,39]. There is no new control algorithm in this study.

5. Overall revision is not enough.

Round 3

Reviewer 1 Report

1. What is the difference between the proposed method and the shunt circuit?

2. Figures 13, 14, and 15 show that the performance of the semi-active damper is not better than the passive damper. On the contrary, the simulation results shows that the performance of the semi-active damper is clearly better than the passive damper as shown in Figure 8. Include the discussion on this difference.

3. Conclusions are too short.
