Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

After reviewing the manuscript “TOOTH CEMENTUM ANNULATION: A LITERATURE REVIEW” according to the criteria for publication of the journal Forensic Sciences, we have made the following assessment:

Review Criteria: After a brief bibliographical search, we have found that the potential in forensics of the TAC (biological profiling and forensic anthropology) makes this paper of a great interest, despite the controversies. We find especially interesting the triple approach to the results of the review: human studies, animal and evolutionary studies, and biological studies.

The clarity in drafting, and its approach is adequate. The review is exhaustive, and bibliography is representative of the ideas of the paper. With regard to the abstract or keywords, are also adequate and representative of the general idea of the study.

We want to point out that although the length of the manuscript may seem excessive, the breadth of the subject, the different approaches studied, and the controversy generated by this technique justify it.

Due to the quality and clarity, our proposal is to publish without modifications.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

This is an interesting work reviewing TCA. This review covers everything needed to understand the technique and their issues. However, I recommend a change in the order of sections. On Results and Discussion, I would start with Biological Studies. In that way you can give an overview of the cementum, the factors affecting its development,... Then, I would include the Animal Studies, and the last section would be the Human Studies, finalizing with the proposal of how to present the results. I think it would be easier and more straight forward for the readers.

Thank you very much.
