2020 Epigenomes Travel Award

Dr. Andrea Piunti is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University in Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA. Dr. Piunti’s research is related to the molecular mechanisms of an interesting gene that he named CATACOMB (CATalytic Antagonist of polyCOMB), that is rearranged as a result of chromosomal translocations in endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS). CATACOMB is the first reported endogenous polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) antagonist which was proposed by Piunti as the wild-type equivalent of the well-known H3K27M histone mutant.
