Prof. Dr. Francesca Spyrakis Appointed Section Editor-in-Chief of the section “Biological Systems” in Processes

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Francesca Spyrakis was appointed Section Editor-in-Chief of the section “Biological Systems” of the journal Processes.

Prof. Dr. Francesca Spyrakis is Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Drug Science and Technology (University of Turin), where she leads the molecular modelling group.

She received her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Parma in 2007. Since then, she has been working for the development and application of computational methods to study protein–ligand interactions. Her main research interests include the design of ligands targeting relevant pharmaceutical targets, with particular attention to antimicrobials, as well as the investigation of protein dynamics.

She authored more than 80 publications which have been cited over 1700 times (h-index 25) and several book sections, including the chapter on “Docking, Scoring and Virtual Screening in Drug Design” in Burger’s Medicinal Chemistry, and has presented more than 90 communications at international congresses (ORCID: http://orcid.org/0000-0002-4016-227X).

Prof. Spyrakis is an active member of the scientific committee of relevant workshops and meetings in the field of computational chemistry, such as the European Workshop on Drug Design and Computationally Driven Drug Discovery.

We are confident that with her strong academic background and connections, our newly appointed Section Editor-in-Chief will continue to raise the prestige and quality of Processes.
