We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Jack V. Greiner has been appointed Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal JCTO (ISSN 2813-1053).

Prof. Dr. Greiner is an ophthalmologist, physician and surgeon, optometrist, teacher, and biomedical research scientist. Prof. Dr. Greiner is currently an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, the Director of both the Boston Ocular Surface Center and Clinical Eye Research of Boston, and an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, USA. He has authored over 190 publications in the scientific and medical literature, has delivered over 200 lectures at national and international meetings, and holds six U.S. patents and corresponding foreign patents in the treatment areas of dry eye diseases and integument. Additionally, he has participated in over 200 FDA clinical trials as a principal investigator or subinvestigator to assess the safety and efficacy of novel ophthalmic therapeutic interventions.

Prof. Dr. Greiner earned a Ph.D. in anatomy followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Howe Laboratory of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. He completed an additional research fellowship on an NIH National Research Service Award (NRSA) at the Schepens Eye Research Institute while simultaneously completing a Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) at the New England College of Optometry. He then earned a medical degree at Midwestern University followed by an internship in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, a residency in ophthalmology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and a Clinical Fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases of the Eye at the Cornea Service of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School.

Prof. Dr. Greiner is a member of numerous medical and scientific societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and The Cornea Society as a Member with Thesis. Prof. Dr. Greiner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Specialists in Surgery, a Diplomate of the American Board of Physician Specialties, and a Distinguished Practioner of the National Academies of Practice. Among his leadership roles, he has served as the President of the American Academy of Specialists in Surgery and the President of the American Association of Physician Specialists, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee as the Immediate Past-President and as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Physician Specialties. Prof. Dr. Greiner's numerous professional awards include the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Physician of the Year by the American Association of Surgical Specialists, and the Senior Achievement Award and the prestigious E.O. Martin Medal from the American Association of Physician Specialists.

Given his extensive background in both clinical and basic science research as well as his experience as an Editorial Board Member, Section Editor, and Scientific Reviewer for numerous research and clinical journals, we warmly welcome Prof. Dr. Greiner to his new role as Editor-in-Chief and look forward to his guidance in the evolution, impact, and success of the Journal of Clinical & Translational Ophthalmology.
