Methods and Protocols | Call for Special Issue Proposals and Recruiting Guest Editors

Methods and Protocols (MPs, ISSN: 2409-9279) is a multidisciplinary and peer-reviewed scientific journal that provides an advanced forum for the publication of novel approaches to tackling questions in the fields of life sciences, chemistry, and biomedical sciences, as well as in other relevant scientific fields. The journal is indexed within Scopus (Elsevier), ESCI (Web of Science), PubMed, PMC, CAPlus/SciFinder, and other databases.

The Methods and Protocols editorial team is pleased to announce this open call for Special Issue proposals, which offers a group of authors the opportunity to work on an interconnected set of papers on an innovative topic. We are soliciting high-quality proposals that will be evaluated in a continuous selection process throughout the year.

Proposals within the scope of the journal are welcome. For more details, please see the following link: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/mps/about.

If you would like to propose a Special Issue topic for this journal, please contact the MPs Editorial Office ([email protected]) or complete and submit the form at the following link: https://www.mdpi.com/journalproposal/sendproposalspecialissue/mps. Our editors will respond to you as soon as possible.

The following information should be provided in the proposal:

  • A 150–200-word summary redefining the scope of the Special Issue;
  • A list of 5 to 10 keywords on the topic;
  • A brief resume of the proposed Guest Editors, together with their information (title, name, email, affiliation, personal website, and keywords of interest).

The responsibilities of being a Guest Editor are as follows:

  • Preparing the Special Issue’s title, summary, and keywords, to introduce it to authors and readers;
  • Providing a list of potential contributors and inviting investigators in the field to contribute;
  • Prescreening and supervising the whole peer review process, as well as making decisions about new submissions in their Special Issue;
  • Promoting the Special Issue at conferences, if the opportunity arises, or on social media and on other relevant platforms.

The benefits of being a Guest Editor are as follows:

  • Guest editing is an ideal opportunity for networking and communicating with scholars in the research community;
  • You will help accelerate the dissemination of science around the world and initiate new collaborations;
  • You are able to publish a research paper, protocol, or comprehensive review paper free of charge in the Special Issue;
  • Special Issue reprints: MDPI provides the option of having the Special Issue reprinted in a book format.

The Editorial Office will take care of setting up the Special Issue’s website and will arrange the promotional materials, assist with the call for papers, and take care of administrative tasks associated with the peer review process in addition to professional production before publication.

If this is of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact the Editorial Office ([email protected]) for further details and clarification.

We look forward to receiving your proposals.
