We are pleased to announce that Prof. Nam-Trung Nguyen has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Micromachines (ISSN 2072-666X). His appointment will start on 1 March 2016.
Nam-Trung Nguyen, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Griffith University, Australia and the Director of Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre. He received his Dip-Ing, Dr Ing and Dr Ing Habil degrees from Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, in 1993, 1997 and 2004, respectively. In 1998, he was appointed as a postdoctoral research engineer at Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, University of California at Berkeley, USA. From 1999 to 2013, he worked as an Associate Professor with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prof. Nguyen was runner-up of the Inaugural ProSPER.Net–Scopus Young Scientist Awards in Sustainable Development in 2009 and the runner-up of the ASAIHL–Scopus Young Scientist Awards in 2008. His research is focused on microfluidics, nanofluidics, micro/nanomachining technologies, micro/nanoscale science, and instrumentation for biomedical applications. He has published over 230 journal papers, nine books and hold three patents.
Prof. Nguyen takes over from Prof. Miko Elwenspoek, who has held the position since the journal started six years ago. During the tenure of Prof. Elwenspoek, the journal has had great success, seeing a sustained increase in both the number of publications and the journal impact. We are extremely grateful to Prof. Elwenspoek for his hard work and support in growing the journal to its current state.
Having already served Guest Editor of two Special Issues for the journal and regularly been involved in the editorial process, Prof. Nguyen is familiar with the journal and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
We would like to warmly welcome Prof. Nguyen as Editor-in-Chief and look forward to his contributing to the continued success of Micromachines.
