Guidelines for Manuscript Submission

Accepted Formats

Authors are encouraged to use the Microsoft Word Template Files or LaTeX template ( for Books or Chapters see below) to prepare their manuscript. Using the template will substantially shorten the time to complete copy-editing and publication of accepted manuscripts.

Ensuring Language Accuracy

MDPI Books must be submitted in grammatically correct English for publication. For more information, please see English Editing Guidelines for Authors. If English is not your first language, please ensure that your manuscript is checked by an English-speaking colleague or a professional editing service.

Ensuring Accuracy of References

Accurate and properly formatted references enhance the credibility and reliability of your research. Authors are required to adhere to the agreed style (MDPI Chicago or ACS) before submitting the manuscript to prevent any delays during production.

Ensuring Quality of Figures

Authors should ensure that visual elements are of high quality and maintain clarity when viewed online at a size of up to 11 by 9 cm. It is necessary to submit them with a resolution of at least 1000 pixels width/height or 300 dpi. Numbering throughout the manuscript should follow the order of appearance. Each figure and table should have a concise title and caption. Avoid including captions, titles, explanatory headings, or copyright information within the figure files.

Follow Ethical Policies

Authors submitting to MDPI Books must ensure that their manuscripts are ethically sound and meet industry-recognized standards that are reflected on MDPI’s Research and Publication Ethics page.

Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any published material (such as figures, tables, or text extracts) for which they do not hold the copyright. It is the authors' responsibility to secure written confirmation from the copyright holder, usually the original publisher, to publish under the CC-BY license.

Authors must comply with the copyright holder's instructions regarding acknowledgements or credit lines in the manuscript. Note that publishers may charge fees for reproducing copyrighted material, and MDPI does not refund any costs associated with obtaining permissions.

To avoid delays, authors should begin the permission acquisition process early. MDPI Books cannot publish material from other sources without it.
