Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), dental caries is a major public health problem and one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood worldwide, with a high prevalence. More than 530 million children present with this chronic pathology in their temporary dentition. It is considered a non-communicable, non-infectious disease with serious repercussions on children's general health, such as severe pain, facial infections, decreased physical development, and impacted learning abilities and psychological outcomes for both children and their families.

According to many studies, it is related to good oral health behaviors (regular dental visits and tooth brushing and using fluoridated toothpaste) and nutritional habits. Also, oral-health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) has been applied extensively as a measure of the impact of oral diseases and disorders on individuals and society.

It becomes necessary to promote caries reduction, which is the objective of a WHO global oral health action plan.

This Special Issue aims to establish the relationship between caries indicators, hygienic–dietary habits, and access to dental care in children. If possible, we also aim to develop a multidisciplinary child oral health program with health, educational, and community participation.

It is important to carry out research that promotes awareness about the importance of oral health and create programs to improve oral health and prevent periodontal diseases in children.

In this Special Issue, original research articles, case report, brief report, review, communication, registered report, protocol, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis are welcome.
