Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The increasing demand for sustainable practices in metal manufacturing and the development of durable metallic alloys is driven by the urgent need to reduce environmental impact and enhance material performance. This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research that addresses these critical challenges by exploring innovative methods and materials that contribute to sustainability in the metal industry.

The focus of this Special Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Sustainable Manufacturing Processes: Investigating eco-friendly manufacturing techniques that minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Development of Durable Alloys: Creating and optimizing metallic alloys that offer superior durability, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties, thereby extending the lifecycle of products.
  3. Recycling and Reuse: Exploring strategies for the recycling and reuse of metals and alloys to promote a circular economy.
  4. Advanced Characterization Techniques: Utilizing state-of-the-art characterization methods to understand the microstructural and compositional factors that influence the sustainability and performance of metallic materials.
  5. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): Conducting comprehensive LCAs to evaluate the environmental impact of metal manufacturing processes and alloy development.

This Special Issue seeks contributions from researchers, industry experts, and practitioners who are at the forefront of sustainable metal manufacturing and alloy development. By sharing their latest findings and innovations, contributors will help pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient metal industry.

Potential authors are encouraged to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies that align with the themes outlined above. We look forward to your valuable contributions that will enrich this Special Issue and advance the field of sustainable metal manufacturing.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2100 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
