Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to contribute to our upcoming Special Issue on "The Influence of Genetics, and Epigenetics on Cellular Consequences in Aging and Age-Related Diseases". In this unique compilation, we aim to present cutting-edge research that explores the cellular mechanisms underlying aging and shed light on the intricate interplay between cellular processes and age-related diseases. Our Special Issue seeks to distinguish itself by encompassing a broad spectrum of topics, including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Emerging frontiers in cellular senescence and cell aging in the aging process and age-related diseases;
  2. Genomic Instability: The interplay between genomic stability, aging, and the onset of diseases associated with advanced age;
  3. Microbiome Interactions: The interplay between the cellular environment and the microbiome, unraveling how microbial communities impact aging processes and disease susceptibility;
  4. Metabolic and Autophagic Dysregulation: Contribution of autophagic and metabolic dysregulation to aging and developing metabolic disorders in older individuals;
  5. Epigenetic Modifications: Understanding how epigenetic changes contribute to cellular aging and cellular senescence and impact age-related diseases;
  6. Stem Cell Dynamics: Exploring the role of stem cell aging and senescence in age-related degeneration and disease development;
  7. Inflammation: Sources of chronic inflammation in aging and its impact on disease onset and progression;
  8. Inter-Organ Crosstalk: Inter-organ crosstalk and the effect on the aging process and age-related diseases;
  9. Integrative Omics Approaches: The power of multi-omics analyses for comprehensively understanding cellular changes during aging and age-related diseases;
  10. Technological Advances in Aging Research: Cutting-edge methodologies and technologies that offer insights and new inroads for therapeutic interventions;
  11. Data-Driven Precision Medicine for Age-Related Diseases: Explore how big data and artificial intelligence can improve personalized interventions and provide a roadmap for the future of age-related disease management.

In this Special Issue, we seek submissions that provide comprehensive insights, challenge conventional paradigms, bring forth transformative perspectives, and introduce innovative methodologies and potential translational applications. By fostering a multidisciplinary approach, we aim to offer our readers a diverse and thorough understanding of the cellular consequences associated with aging and age-related diseases. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome.

Thank you for considering this invitation, and we look forward to your contributions to this exceptional Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
