Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Translational studies play a crucial role in the field of personalized medicine, which aims to tailor medical treatment to the individual characteristics of each patient. These studies bridge the gap between scientific research and clinical practice by translating scientific discoveries into practical applications that directly benefit patients. In this Special Issue, some key aspects of translational studies in the context of personalized medicine will be considered, including (i) biomarker Identification and validation (specific biological indicators that can be measured objectively and reliably and may include genetic, genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, or other molecular signatures associated with diseases or treatment responses), (ii) genomic medicine (identifying genetic variations that influence disease susceptibility, progression, and response to treatment, including genome-wide association studies or whole genome sequencing), (iii) pharmacogenomics (how genetic variations influence an individual's response to drugs), (iv) risk assessment and disease prediction (developing models and algorithms to predict an individual's risk of developing certain diseases based on their genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors), (v) targeted therapies (treatments designed to specifically target the underlying molecular mechanisms of a disease, leading to more effective and less toxic treatments), (vi) clinical trials and study design (designing and conducting clinical trials that incorporate biomarker-driven approaches), (vii) data integration and analysis (data analysis techniques to integrate diverse types of data, such as genomic, clinical, and environmental information), (viii) implementation in clinical practice (translating research findings into routine clinical practice; this may involve developing guidelines, training healthcare professionals, and establishing infrastructure for genetic and molecular testing).
Translational studies are at the forefront of advancing personalized medicine, and they are instrumental in realizing the potential of tailoring healthcare to individual patient needs. For this Special Issue, we welcome the submission of original research articles and review papers.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Translational Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue
- Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
- Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
- Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
- External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
- e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
