Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

MDPI is putting together a Special Issue. Much meteorological research makes use of remotely sensed parameters. Papers using remote sensing methods for clouds, precipitation, and forecasting are welcome. Modeling papers and observational work are both also welcome.

Some of the sensors and methods are:

1) Radar has been used for weather research since World War 2, and the technology has advanced far since then.

2) Radio occultation is a recent method using tangential signals from orbit to derive cloud liquid water content and/or size distributions.

3) Meteorological satellites have been used since 1968, and their capabilities are orders-of-magnitude better now than then.

4) Remote autonomous drones are beginning to be used in hurricanes to measure winds, temperature, and humidity at low levels where manned aircraft cannot venture.

5) Lidar is used to measure aerosols, both number concentration and size distributions.

6) Stepped-frequency microwave radiometers are used to measure surface wind speeds and rainfall at the surface of the sea from aircraft.

7) Doppler wind lidar is a new device to measure wind speed at the surface from aircraft.

This is only a partial list; papers describing many other remotely sensed parameters are desired.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
