Background/Objectives: Provisional restorations are essential in prosthodontic treatment, and reliable intraoral repair is clinically important during extended interim use. This in vitro study evaluated the effects of organic solvent pretreatment on surface characteristics and shear bond strength (SBS) of CAD/CAM provisional restorative materials fabricated by milling, stereolithography (SLA), and digital light processing (DLP). Methods: Three materials were assigned to five surface treatment conditions: no solvent (control), isopropyl alcohol (IPA), tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetonitrile (ACN), and pyridine (PYR). After pretreatment, separate specimens were used for surface analysis and SBS testing. Surface roughness was measured by atomic force microscopy using arithmetic mean height (Sa) and root mean square height (Sq), and surface morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). For SBS testing, specimens were repaired using a universal adhesive and a flowable resin composite, followed by failure mode analysis. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test (α = 0.05). Results: Material type, solvent treatment, and their interaction significantly affected SBS, Sa, and Sq. The DLP material showed the highest SBS overall, with no significant differences among treatments. In the SLA material, ACN resulted in the lowest SBS, whereas PYR showed the highest mean value. In the milled material, THF, ACN, and PYR produced significantly higher SBS than the control and IPA groups. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, the effect of organic solvent pretreatment on repair performance was substrate-dependent. Full article

In today’s tourism industry, service quality is essential for differentiation and achieving sustainable competitive advantage. While much research on service quality exists for the private sector, a notable gap remains regarding service dynamics in non-profit public recreational spaces in emerging economies. This study fills that gap by examining service quality (SQ) at National Botanical Gardens (NBGs) in South Africa, focusing on visitor perceptions of SQ importance and performance. Using an adapted Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) framework, the research explores how visitor expectations compare with actual experiences. A quantitative approach was adopted, with structured questionnaires given to a convenience sample of visitors at key gardens like Pretoria and Walter Sisulu NBGs. Data analysis centred on correlation coefficients to assess the relationship between perceived importance and actual performance. The findings reveal a generally strong, statistically significant positive correlation; however, some attributes show a ‘weak correlation,’ indicating critical service gaps often overlooked by traditional management models. These insights demonstrate that, in natural attraction settings, visitor-perceived importance primarily drives satisfaction with performance. In addition to offering the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) a strategic plan to boost visitor retention, this study advances the academic discussion by challenging existing SQ models within non-profit recreational sectors. It lays a vital empirical groundwork for future research on public-sector service excellence in the Global South. Full article

Leadership, and athlete leadership in particular, has been reported to be an important factor impacting upon team performance. However, while there is significant evidence supporting the importance of athlete leadership for teams, there is very little research exploring the leadership experiences and needs of female sports teams. As a result, the aim of this study was to explore the leadership experiences of the captains of professional women’s rugby teams. Participants included eight professional women’s rugby captains, recruited through personal contact. Data were analyzed adopting an interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) approach, resulting in the emergence of 10 superordinate themes including: factors influencing success, challenges, amateur level, leader characteristics, role models, aspects of the role, types of captains, leading by example, selection, and women’s game. Data suggests that empathy, empowerment, collaboration and shared/devolved leadership are crucial components of leadership for elite women’s rugby teams. Full article

Although urban streetscape visual esthetic quality (VAQ) assessment has progressed markedly, its findings are rarely operationalized in urban planning policy-making. The resulting discontinuity in the assessment–policy linkage is a critical impediment to streetscape VAQ enhancement. We propose an eye-tracking-enabled, end-to-end decision support framework that links evidence acquisition, intervention prioritization, design strategy formulation, and outcome feedback. Eye tracking is integrated to establish a three-dimensional assessment system spanning spatial, psychological, and physiological dimensions. Within this integrated system, we construct a three-level eye-tracking-based visual characteristics (ET-VC) framework across streetscape elements, formal characteristics, and public esthetic perception (PAP). Together, the three-dimensional system provides a theoretical basis for acquiring the multi-modal data required for VAQ enhancement. Building on this integrated assessment, we embed scenario planning theory to construct a planning facing decision model with PAP as the core outcome. The model combines importance-performance analysis (IPA) with the coupling coordination degree model (CCDM) to guide resource allocation decisions and intervention prioritization, and further uses eye-tracking evidence to support the development of refined, actionable enhancement strategies. A case study in Wudadao validates the framework’s robustness and feasibility. The ET-VC results provide additional evidence for interpreting esthetic perception: (1) ET-VC indicators differ significantly across streetscape elements, and “being viewed more” does not necessarily correspond to higher esthetic ratings; (2) four groups of key formal characteristic indicators—color configuration, naturalness, historicity and planning/regulatory control, and visual scale—systematically reshape fixation onset and maintenance patterns; and (3) PAP appears to involve partially nonlinear relationships between material landscape features and additional top-down influences (e.g., historical narratives and individual experience), rather than being fully explained by linear associations alone. Overall, this study provides both a theoretical basis and an applied demonstration for evidence-based streetscape VAQ enhancement. Full article

Background: Railways worldwide are increasingly adopting digital technologies to improve operational performance and reliability. However, digital transformation in rail freight remains challenging, particularly in developing countries where organizational, technological, and institutional barriers persist. This study aims to identify key barriers to rail freight digital transformation and propose strategies to address these challenges in Thailand’s rail freight sector. Methods: An integrated analytical approach combining Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) was applied. DEMATEL was used to analyze causal relationships among seven factors influencing digital transformation barriers, while IPA evaluated their importance and performance based on a case study of the State Railway of Thailand. Results: The findings show that management has the highest causal prominence, while quality and efficiency emerge as the primary effect factor. IPA results indicate that people, collaboration, and infrastructure require priority improvement. Conclusions: The study proposes four strategic directions to support rail freight digital transformation and provides a structured framework for identifying and prioritizing digital transformation barriers in rail freight systems. Subway public spaces have been identified as a vital medium for showcasing urban culture. The design quality of these spaces has been shown to have a profound influence on passengers’ spatial perception and cultural experience. However, amid rapid urbanization, subway stations commonly face issues such as homogeneous spatial interfaces and unclear cultural themes, resulting in diminished station identifiability. This study integrates post-use evaluation with Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) to establish an assessment and optimization pathway aimed at systematically identifying and prioritizing key design elements for enhancing cultural identifiability. Taking Tianjin Gulou Station as a case study, user feedback collected through questionnaires identified 12 indicators influencing identifiability satisfaction. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were confirmed through validity analysis and paired-sample t-tests, while IPA was employed to clarify improvement priorities. The results indicate that the overall perceived importance of cultural identifiability at Gulou Station significantly exceeds satisfaction levels. Landmark installations, art walls, and vertical transportation fall within the “high importance-low satisfaction” quadrant, which is identified as a primary area of focus for enhancement. Basic interface elements such as flooring and ceilings require enhancement, while transfer entrances and station name walls constitute advantageous designs warranting preservation. Based on the findings of the present study, three targeted design strategies are proposed: enhancing spatial perception, constructing cultural continuity, and integrating multidimensional experiences. These approaches seek to address the “spatial-cultural” perception gap, providing actionable pathways for the distinctive renewal of subway spaces. Full article

In the context of immersive technologies deeply integrated into the cultural tourism industry, immersive cultural tourism has become an important means of heritage revitalization. Immersive experience is both a crucial consumer element and a key indicator for evaluating the attractiveness of cultural tourism landscapes. This study evaluates the post-use experience of the cultural tourism landscape of Xidajie Street in Baoding from the perspective of tourist immersion. Through a literature review, investigation of typical immersive districts, and expert interviews, we extract immersive cultural tourism landscape evaluation criteria based on a depth model of immersion, focusing on three dimensions: narrative, enclosure, and interaction. Subjective perception data from tourists is then collected through a survey, and IPA (Importance–Performance Analysis) is employed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Xidajie’s cultural tourism landscape. The results show that Xidajie excels in spatial environment shaping and historical preservation, but has room for improvement in cultural narrative extension, contextual immersion, and interactive experiences. Therefore, strategies are proposed to enhance the cultural IP, establish a complete narrative structure, create authentic enveloping environments, and enrich interactive games to build a high-quality online and offline immersive cultural tourism landscape. This aims to promote the renewal of Xidajie and the dynamic transmission of Baoding’s local culture. Full article

Public bus systems are vital to achieving sustainable urban mobility in developing countries; yet, the quality of bus stops, a critical interface between users and transit services, remains widely overlooked. This study evaluates bus stop quality in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, from bus users’ perspectives by integrating importance–performance analysis (IPA) and the customer satisfaction index (CSI) with level of conformity analysis (CR) using extensive, real-world survey data. The objective was to identify priority areas to help improve the quality of public bus stop provision in the city and ensure the most efficient allocation of resources by focusing on the quality attributes that matter most to bus users. The results highlight six critical service quality attributes that require immediate improvement due to their high importance to users and low service quality performance: (i) safety barriers to prevent traffic accidents while waiting at bus stops; (ii) accessibility of bus stops for elderly and disabled users; (iii) availability of signage and timetables/maps; (iv) overall bus stop quality; (v) narrow bus stop platforms; and (vi) waiting time at bus stops. Addressing these gaps is essential to enhance user satisfaction and ensure that users have a safer, more inclusive, and reliable PT experience. This study offers evidence-based recommendations to enhance bus stop design and service quality, thus contributing to improved user satisfaction and increased ridership. More broadly, the results can be applied to other rapidly urbanizing developing cities seeking to provide equitable, safe, and user-centered bus transit systems. Full article

Against the backdrop of population aging, community parks are important spaces for older adults’ daily activities, and perceived safety plays a key role in shaping their use and spatial satisfaction. This study selected six typical community parks in central Beijing, constructed an indicator system for safety perception needs, and applied an analytical KANO–IPA (Integrated Kano and Importance-Performance Analysis) approach to identify the demand attributes and optimization priorities of safety elements. The results reveal a clear hierarchy in older adults’ safety perception needs. Basic environmental and facility safety factors, such as pavement conditions and facility reliability, function as must-be needs. Elements related to spatial visibility, circulation, lighting, and wayfinding act as one-dimensional needs that steadily influence satisfaction, whereas features including natural surveillance, spatial enclosure, and activity atmosphere mainly enhance spatial experience as attractive needs. Priority analysis further indicates that circulation conditions and facility safety constitute the most critical aspects for improvement. Overall, older adults’ safety perception in community parks results from the combined effects of multiple spatial factors. Hierarchical spatial optimization can enhance user experience and improve resource allocation efficiency. The findings provide theoretical support and decision-making guidance for safety-oriented planning and age-friendly renewal of urban community parks in aging societies. Full article

This study evaluates the service quality of smart campus dining services as a core element of sustainable school meal governance and health-promoting campus environments. A structured questionnaire grounded in the five SERVQUAL dimensions—tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy—was administered to 375 users of a smart campus catering platform, including students, faculty and staff, and education administrators from 20 counties and cities in Taiwan. The data were analyzed using gap analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, multiple regression, and Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) to identify major service quality gaps and sustainability-oriented improvement priorities. The results show that tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, and assurance significantly predict overall service quality, with assurance exerting the strongest effect, while empathy is highly correlated with the other dimensions. IPA further indicates that outdated or insufficient smart facilities fall into the high-importance/low-performance area and thus represent a critical weakness. These findings provide empirical evidence for data-driven and user-centered management of school meal services, supporting more efficient resource allocation, AI-assisted menu planning, and IoT-based food safety monitoring. By linking service quality assessment with sustainable campus governance, the study contributes to efforts to promote healthy eating, reduce food waste, and strengthen localized food supply collaboration, in line with Sustainable Development Goals related to health, education, and responsible consumption. As heritage museums shift toward more experience-oriented development, fragmented layouts and discontinuous visitor flows can reduce both spatial efficiency and the coherence of on-site experience. This study proposes an immersive experience-centred evaluation framework for exhibition layout in heritage museums, intended to translate experience goals into practical and diagnosable criteria for spatial optimization. An indicator system was refined through two rounds of Delphi consultation with an interdisciplinary expert panel, resulting in a hierarchical framework comprising five dimensions and multiple indicators. To support intervention prioritization in design and operations, weights were derived using the Group Analytic Hierarchy Process (GAHP), with Aggregation of Individual Judgments (AIJs) and consistency checks applied to control group judgement quality. A CV–entropy procedure was further used to support prioritization at the third-indicator level. Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) was then employed to convert “importance–fit” assessments into an actionable sequence of optimization priorities. The results indicate that narrative and scene design carries the greatest weight (0.2877), followed by circulation and spatial organization (0.2281), sensory experience and atmosphere (0.1981), authenticity and sense of place (0.1644), and interactivity and participation (0.1217), suggesting that a “narrative–circulation–atmosphere” chain forms the core support for immersive layout design. A feasibility application using the Yinxu Museum demonstrates the framework’s value for benchmarking and diagnosis, helping decision-makers enhance visitor experience while respecting conservation constraints and more precisely target spatial investment priorities. Coastal port cities depend on global seafood flows, yet their food security is increasingly exposed to price volatility and supply disruptions. This study examines Busan citizens’ perceptions of seafood-related food security and seafood supply chain stability, and derives actionable municipal policy priorities for a trade-dependent port city. Anchored in the FAO four-dimensional framework—availability, access, utilization, and stability—we developed 20 seafood-related attributes and surveyed adult residents in Busan (n = 297). The measurement structure was assessed through reliability checks and exploratory factor analysis, and Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) was used to map attribute-level priorities and identify the largest importance–performance gaps. Overall, respondents regard seafood food security as highly important but only moderately satisfactory. Availability and utilization perform relatively well, indicating perceived strengths in basic supply conditions and safe consumption, whereas access and stability show lower performance relative to importance, reflecting concerns about affordability, uneven physical access for vulnerable groups, price volatility, and exposure to external shocks. Notably, several stability-related attributes emerge as “Concentrate Here” priorities, highlighting the need for strengthened risk management, early warning communication, and resilience-oriented logistics planning at the city level. By integrating the FAO framework with attribute-level IPA, this study demonstrates how citizen perception data can translate macro food security debates into locally implementable priorities for building sustainable food systems in coastal cities. This paper proposes a low-cost measurement system that can be used to perform simultaneous blood pressure (BP) and breathing (BR) measurements. Regarding BP measurements, the main parameters that are accessed include systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial pressure blood pressure (MAP), and heartbeat rate (HR). Concerning BR measurements, the main parameters that are accessed include the inspiration period and amplitude (IPA), the expiration period and amplitude (EPA), and the breathing rate (BR), as well as the statistical and standard deviation of all these parameters. The dual measurement capability of the proposed measurement system is very important since blood pressure and breathing parameters are not statistically independent and it is possible to obtain additional and valuable clinical information from the information provided by both biomedical variables when measured simultaneously. The analysis of the correlation between these variables is particularly important after performing intensive physical exercises, since it enables cardiac rehabilitation assessment, pre-surgical risk evaluation, detection of silent ischemia, and monitoring of chronic diseases recovery, among others. Regarding the performance evaluation of the proposed biomedical device, a prototype of the measurement system was developed, tested, and calibrated. Several experimental tests were carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed measurement system and to obtain the correlation coefficients between different blood pressure and breathing parameters. The tests were based on a statistically significant number of measurements that were performed with a population that integrated twenty students in two groups with different habits of physical exercise practice but subjected to a set of common physical exercises, with graduated intensity levels. Mega-event-led urban waterfront regeneration has played a key role in shaping public open spaces, particularly in newly developed areas within the Chinese context. However, public perceptions and their influence on the use of newly built open spaces created through mega-event-led regeneration have not been examined in existing research. To address this gap, this study establishes an integrated assessment framework to evaluate the quality of urban waterfront open spaces. A mixed methods approach was adopted, including direct observations and 770 online questionnaires collected between July and October 2024 at the South Bank of the Qiantang River (SBQR) in Hangzhou, China. Spatial analysis and Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) were employed to determine priority improvement areas that should inform future waterfront regeneration strategies. The results indicate that inclusiveness emerged as the most important factor for enhancing waterfront open space quality, while spatial aesthetics ranked the lowest. Among the sub-sub factors, elements related to improving water accessibility, enhancing natural surveillance, providing artificial shelters and diverse seating options, introducing distinctive water features, and shaping collective memory through digital technologies are the key priorities for improvement in the future urban waterfront regeneration policies. Finally, the study highlights that the intangible legacies of the Asian Games and the adaptive reuse of informal built heritage have the potential to reshape a distinctive new city image and collective memory, even in the absence of tangible and formally recognised heritage buildings. The growth of e-commerce has led to a rapid increase in user-generated content (UGC), attracting scholars’ attention as a new data source for investigating customer requirements. However, existing requirements analysis methods fail to integrate three critical requirement indicators: stated importance, derived importance, and performance. Using only one or two of these indicators inevitably has its limitations. This paper proposes a novel framework for analyzing and prioritizing customer requirements based on multi-source UGC. First, customer requirements are extracted from online reviews and questions & answers using non-negative matrix factorization. Next, aspect-level sentiment analysis and multi-source data fusion are employed to calculate dual importance and performance. Specifically, we developed an improved importance–performance analysis (IPA) model, named dual importance–performance analysis (Du-IPA), which integrates the three indicators to classify requirement types in a 3D cube with corresponding improvement strategies. Finally, by combining the three indicators, an improved prospect value and PROMETHEE-II are proposed using prospect theory to prioritize CRs for product service improvement. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a case study of fresh food in online retail. Full article
